If you like to go hunting in the great outdoors, you need to make sure that you bring a bullet wound first aid kit with you. That way, if you ever experience an accident of your own making or of someone else's making, you'll be able to make it through the experience. There are a few specific items you are going to want to have in your hunting first aid kit in order to deal with bullet wounds.

Dressings

You are going to want to have a variety of different dressing in your first aid kits. You are going to want to have at least two large trauma pad dressing pads. Additionally, you are going to want to have two or three 4 in x 4 in and 3 in by 3 in dressing pads as well. Dressing pads are crucial for controlling bleeding, and are a must in any bullet wound first aid kit.

Gauze or Tape

You are going to need either gauze or tape in your first aid kit. Both work well at holding together bandages and keeping the wound site clean. It can be a good idea to carry both gauze and tape in your hunting bullet wound first aid kit.

Tourniquet Supplies

If someone has a heavy bleed, you may need to apply a tourniquet. A tourniquet is only applied in situations where someone would bleed out without the use of a tourniquet to restrict the blood supply. Since you can do permanent damage to a limb with the tourniquet, only use this in extreme situations where you can't control the bleeding otherwise.

You can purchase a tourniquet kit for your first aid kit. You can also purchase an advanced clotting sponge, which is designed to stop blood severe blood flow by helping one clot; it can be used instead of a tourniquet in situations where advanced blood loss is occurring. Using a blood clotting sponge could save someone's limb and their life at the same time.

Gloves

You are going to want to make sure that you have some gloves. Stock up on a couple of pairs of Nitrile exam gloves. These will help you keep your wound clean as you treat it. If you are treating someone else, wearing gloves will protect you from communicable disease.

Disinfectant

You are going to want to be able to clean out the wound. You can purchase microbicide disinfect wipes for cleaning out wounds. Make sure that you have at least five packs of these wipes. You should also have some alcohol wipes on hand to clean your own hands with. Alcohol wipes will help clean your hands if you don't have gloves, don't have time to put on gloves or your gloves rip in the course of administering first aid to someone else. You can also just carry a small bottle of rubbing alcohol with you to disinfect your hand and the wound with.

If you like to go hunting, make sure that your hunting first aid kit has all the right supplies to treat a gunshot wound, including dressing pads, gauze, tape, clotting sponges, gloves and disinfectant. Also, make sure that you read up on how to administer first aid for gunshot wounds before you go hunting.
